DISCOVER THE CHARM OF WHITBY

Whitby is a town that wears its history on its sleeve, and there’s no better way to experience it than by exploring its many attractions. From the iconic Whitby Abbey, perched high on the cliffs, to the bustling harbour where you can enjoy world-famous fish and chips, there’s something for everyone. We, ideally located opposite Pannett Park, offer the perfect base to uncover Whitby’s treasures. Whether you’re climbing the 199 steps to the Abbey or strolling through the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, you’ll find yourself immersed in a town steeped in maritime heritage and natural beauty. And let us not forget the unique Whitby Jet jewellery and local crafts that make for perfect keepsakes.

UNMISSABLE WHITBY EXPERIENCES

Start your journey with a visit to Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and take in the breathtaking views after climbing the 199 steps. Dive into the town’s seafaring past at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, or explore the art gallery in Pannett Park, just a stone’s throw from us. For a taste of local flavour, enjoy freshly caught fish and chips on the pier or sample the offerings at Whitby Brewery and Distillery. Don’t miss the RNLI Museum, which celebrates the town’s lifesaving heroes, or the Lobster Hatchery, one of only two in the UK. With so much to see and do, Whitby is a destination that promises unforgettable memories.

WHITBY - A TOWN OF HISTORY AND HEART

Whitby isn’t just a place to visit; it’s a place to experience. Beyond the Abbey and the harbour, you’ll find hidden gems like the Jet Museum, showcasing the town’s unique gemstone, and the RNLI Museum, which honours the bravery of Whitby’s lifeboat crews. For those who love a tipple, Whitby Brewery and Distillery offer a chance to sample locally crafted beverages. And if you’re curious about marine conservation, the Lobster Hatchery is a fascinating stop, being only the second of its kind in the UK. Nestled close to the stunning North Yorkshire Moors and the filming locations of the beloved TV series Heartbeat, Whitby offers a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty that’s hard to match. We are your gateway to it all.

Brilliant host and staff; they couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. I stayed here for two nights and would definitely stay here again when I return to Whitby. Great location – everything on the doorstep! The breakfast was amazing and set me up for a hard day's fossil hunting. I am a female travelling alone; I felt very safe here, and the staff were knowledgeable about the local area. Thank you for a wonderful getaway. 10/10 :)

John and Marie, and also our two pet dogs, spent 10 wonderful days at Arundel House. The room we stayed in was very spacious, with a TV, wifi, and an en suite, and tea, coffee, and biscuits were replenished every day. Had a lovely cooked breakfast of choice every morning, which was served by the wonderful staff and Scott, Rachel, and Olivia... we really enjoyed our stay. We both hope to see you all again soon.

The friendliest of welcomes, the cleanest of rooms, the most comfortable of beds with the fluffiest of pillows, the best service and the tastiest of breakfasts. Staying at Arundel House is a most pleasurable experience because of Scott, his family and everyone who works there. They do their very utmost to make you feel at home, and you are very well fed. The location is perfect: a short walk into town and its attractions, and Pannett Park with its gardens and museums is on the doorstep. There is more than adequate parking, and the bus stop is very close. It ticks all the boxes.
